Commiserations to our Section Two pennant side who went down in a tight fought pennant final today 3/2 against Mansfield at Waldara.

Congratulations to Mansfield who went through the season undefeated.
That’s a very hard task and they were a pleasure to play against in the final.

Things didn’t start off well with Zane Howard succumbing to a 6/5 defeat against a young bloke who hit it twice as far and about a quarter of his age.

At number 4. Jacko Wells had a tight match, but unfortunately went down 3/1 in the end to another power hitting youngster (they were brothers).

At Number 3 Jacob Howard was never infront at any stage for the 18 holes, but managed to win the 18th to force extra holes.
His apponent hit his tee shot into the water, and Yogi played safe to win the hole.

At Number 2 Darren Edwards and his apponent were tight all day.
Darren battled it out as he always does and managed to win on the last hole.

This made the match 2 all with Dylan Pool being all square at number one, going down the last hole.

Unfortunately for Dylan he made the job fairly easy for his apponent on the last hole by carving his tee shot about 60m right straight into the practise fairway out of bounds.

He then hit his next tee shot about 200m left and that was virtually game over.

Needing a miracle to halve the hole at least.
No miracle was forthcoming and in the end Dylan lost on the last hole.
Meaning Mansfield won 3/2.
And went through the season undefeated.

Thanks to our guys who played today and to Dave Lang who was also part of the team.

We will be back again next year no doubt and chasing that Pennant flag again.

Back at home today the weather halted any form of golf.

Next Sunday we will be back playing at Beechworth though.
We will have the May Monthly Medal and the top 8 qualifying for the handicap Matchplay Championships.
11:30 for 12 hit off.
All welcome.

Good effort✔️ Great commentary as usual Dylan.

Thanks for a great day fellas Could have gone either way as we know ! Was a pleasure to play with you all today

Good luck to our Section Two pennant side who head to Wangaratta Golf Club this Sunday to take on Mansfield in the final.

We are hoping that the weather holds off until later in the afternoon to assure we can get out on the course.

With Mansfield as the higher ranked side a washout isn’t our friend.

We are off the 10th tee at 10am.

Great day today for golf.

We had a fantastic field of 16 players, which included four juniors.

It wasnt overly a high scoring day but it was a close knit field.

The winner with 36 points on a countback was George Ward (20).
The runner up was Andy Croome (12) 36.
Ball winners were Dave Clark (14) 35 points, Dylan Pool (0) 35.

Others close by were Peter Smith 33, Zac Whitmore 32, Jan Lang 31, Andrew Field 31, Ashton Leary 31, Jacko Wells 31, Dave Lang 30 and Mystery Man 30.

Zac was the junior winner with 32 points and Ashton was runner up with 31.

Nearest the pins went to Peter Smith on the 3rd, Andy Croome on the 7th and Mystery Man on the 17th.

Next Sunday is a Stableford event.
Sunday May the 10th is the May Monthly Medal and Matchplay Top 8 Qualifying.

Good luck to our Section Two Pennant side who takes on Mansfield this Sunday at Wangaratta.

Good to see George Ward is is still playing.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
