Another great turn out of 21 players today for the first round of the Men's Club Championships.
The weather was fantastic and so was the condition of the course.

We welcomed to today's comp former member Dave Richards, we hope you had a good day.

With the large turn out again 2 grades was the order of the day.

The A Grade winner with a great score of one under off the stick was Dylan Pool (2) 67/65, the A Grade runner up was Graeme Cordy (15) 81/66.

Dave Lang (20) fresh off jet setting around the northern states was the B Grade winner with 88/68 and the runner up was Aaron Haw (20) 90/70.
Ball winners were Andy Croome (15) 83/68, Vaughan Saunders (4) 72/68 and Jarryd Pritchard (5) 75/70.

The shot of the day went to Xavier Palamarczuk who's Phil Mickelson like flop shot on the last hole of the day went in the hole and won him the Eagles nest which sat at 30 balls.

Four of the five nearest the pins went off this week with Peter Smith on the 5th, Darren Edwards on the 7th, Jarryd Pritchard on the 10th and Andy Croome on the 17th.

The top three scratch scores in each grade after the first round are as follows.

A Grade: Dylan Pool 67, Vaughan Saunders 72 and Jarryd Pritchard 75.

B Grade: Graeme Cordy 81, Andy Croome 83 and Jamie Dolny 87.

C Grade: Dave Lang 88, Aaron Haw 90, Simon Carracher and Zane Howard 92.

We also had a raffle on the day which Darren Edwards was the happy recipient of.

The second round will be held on Sunday July the 4th, the third round on July 11th and the final round on August the 1st.

The Second Round will also be the qualifying for the club singles matchplay Championships. Top 8 scores to qualify.

The Championships is best three of four scores so even if you didn't play today you are still in the running.

Next Sunday will be a Stableford event with a few members also heading up to Mansfield for the NEDGA Championships.

Great score Dylan Pool. Any chance of following it up with a 79 in the next round to give us all a fighting chance?

There will be a working bee tomorrow morning from 8:30am.

There are a few little jobs to do like raking up sticks etc around trees and also raking the greens before the first round of Championships on Sunday.

If you can spare an hour or two that would be great.

The NEDGA Championships is on at The Mansfield Golf Club next Sunday June the 27th.

Dylan Pool and Jacob Howard are going if anyone else is interested please let Dylan know.
The plan is to go up Saturday Morning and have a hit in the afternoon. Then stay overnight and play the next day. This is a great event and great prizes are up for grabs.
There is also a club teams event which requires 4 players so it would be good if we could get at least 4 to go to be in that.

There is a lift organised if you don't want to drive.
Also if you can't or don't want to go up on the Saturday you can head up Sunday morning. But it will be an eary start.

If we get a few of us to go then the accommodation will be very cheap.

Please let Dylan know by the latest at golf on Sunday.

See you all there Sunday for the First round of the Championships.

The overcast conditions didn't deter the golfers today, as the golf club recorded the best turn out in a long time for the June Monthly Medal with 21 players competing.
With so many players turning up, this meant two grades would you belive it!
Must have been the fact that Championships starts next week, so they were all getting practice in.

The Monthly Medal winner and B Grade winner was Daryl Rowe (24) with 65 nett, the runner up was Ryan Hayes (17) 70 and Zane Howard (20) won a ball with 72.

In the A Grade the winner was Xavier Palamarczuk (1) 69 nett, runner up was visitor Warren Jones (14) 73 nett on a countback from Dylan Pool (2) 73.

With all the players out there today you would think all the nearest the pins would go off, but that was not the case, as only one of the five on offer was won, with Graeme Cordy knocking his tee shot on the green on the 10th.

Let's hope for an even better turn out next Sunday for the First round of the Championships for the Men.

Also on Wednesday there will be a teams event of Snake Ball on. (Make sure you turn up for that) as the scribe doesn't know what that is, so an interesting day for all, 8:30 for 9am hit off.
