There were even numbers at golf today. So a 4Ball Stableford event was played.

The winners on a countback with 43 points were Jacob Howard and Zane Howard, runners up were Andy Croome and Jamie Dolny also on 43 points. Third on 40 was Stuart McIntosh and Dylan Pool.

Jacob Howard (12) had the best individual score with 39 points, Jamie Dolny (18) was the next best with 35.

Zane Howard claimed the only nearest the pin with his tee shot on the 10th.

This Wednesday golf is an 8:30 for 9am hit off.

Golf tomorrow.
11:30 for 12noon hit off.

The event will be decided based on the number of players on the day. If there is a good enough turn up an Ambrose could be on the cards.

Hopefully the weather plays nice to allow a good day for it.

See you there tomorrow.

Not much competition golf got played in the last week at the Beechworth Golf Club.

Last Wednesday a small field on women fronted up for a Stableford event.
The going must have been tough as Debbie Tully returned the best score with 29 points, Nada Guyatt was given the runner up prize with just 24 points on a countback from Gail Smith.
It was also good to see new member Jaqui Cato out having a game too.

There was no competition on Sunday due to the low numbers, but a couple of members enjoyed going around on the soon to be opened newly designed 9 hole par 3 course, which we will be having an opening day for in the near future.

On Sunday a few members travelled to Culcairn for their Tournament. A great feed and company along with a well presented course was what was offered up. With only Dylan Pool returning home with a prize coming second in the A Grade Scratch event.

This Sunday if the weather allows will be the August Monthly Medal. 11:30 for 12noon hit off.
Wednesday golf is 8:30 for 9am hit off.

Also a thank you to Andy Croome, Dave Clark, Jamie Dolny and Dylan Pool who came out Tuesday afternoon to clean up the large tree that fell down late Sunday blocking the approach to the 6th green.

Also if anyone is interested the Victorian Sandgreen Championships is coming up on the last weekend of August at Hamilton. If anyone is keen to play let Dylan know as soon as possible as accommodation has been booked and can be changed to suit extra players. There is a lift on offer if you would like to attend.
At this stage we only have two confirmed starters, which is a bit disappointing as we had 20 players at Avoca in 2019 before covid struck.
The dates are Friday August the 26th to Sunday August the 28th. Accommodation is booked from Thursday to Sunday night. (4nights).

Thanks to Andy Croome, Dave Clark, Jamie Dolny and Dylan Pool who came out this afternoon to help clear the big tree in front of the 6th green.

There is still a bit of the trunk left, but enough was cleared to make the hole playable again.

Would have helped Dylan if I was in the area😂

Good work…

We have a new obstacle for golfers to navigate on the 6th hole from today.
But hopefully not for too long.

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could pop out tomorrow afternoon to lend a hand to help clear the tree so the hole is back playable before golf on Wednesday.

The plan is a couple of members will be out there from about 3:15pm tomorrow afternoon and would appreciate a few helpers. It won't take long with your help.

If you have a chainsaw bring it along, don't worry if you don't there will be a couple of them there and you could help by just picking up the limbs for removal.

Of course if coming out in the afternoon to help doesn't suit you, feel free to come out any time to cut the branches up. The wood is very green but would be good to take home for use in a future winter.
